• Reconciliation radar. You've closed books end‑to‑end and can smell a mismatch from a mile away. Bank, credit card, AP/AR, GL—you reconcile the lot and don't quit until it's zeroed out. Journal entries, accruals, adjustments? You've posted them cleanly and you squash discrepancies before they snowball.
• Compliance compass. CRA, IRS, VAT—you're on a first-name basis with filing deadlines. You've built schedules, prepped reconciliations, and made sure documentation is audit-ready. GST/HST, WCB, EHT, WSIB—you've filed them all, and when regulators come knocking, you don't panic. You hand them a perfectly organized folder.
• Eye for variance. You've prepared full monthly financials for business units, flagged budget vs. actual discrepancies, and delivered commentary that makes sense to non-finance folks. You've created standardized templates in QBO/Excel that speed up reporting and make variance analysis sharper and more actionable.
• Finger on the pulse. You've documented SOPs, tightened internal controls, and improved processes to make accounting more efficient and scalable. You've maintained capital asset registers, tracked acquisitions and disposals, and ensured depreciation is right on the money. Prepaids? You've managed those schedules and nailed recognition.
• Allergy to inefficiency. You've done gap analyses, flagged inefficiencies, and proposed automations that saved hours. Whether it's streamlining reconciliations, simplifying reporting flows, or reducing manual errors, you've proven you can make finance leaner and smarter.
• Full toolkit. You're at home working in QuickBooks Online. You can whip up pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, and nested formulas without breaking a sweat. G-Suite is second nature, and you know how to keep data clean and reports consistent.
• Love of speed. You've thrived in fast-paced industries (bonus points for eCommerce, digital marketing, or supplements) where transactions move fast and volume is high. You know how to keep up without letting details slip.
• Proven track record. Education in Accounting or a related field is in your toolkit (bonus if you're pursuing a designation).
• Obsession with detail. You're obsessed with accuracy. You respect confidentiality, double-check your work, and take pride in delivering reports people can trust.
