Senior Accountant (Investment)

Our client, a well-established organization in the investment capital sector, is seeking a Senior Accountant (Investment) to join their team on a 6-month contract (potential for permanent)

Reporting to the Manager, Investment Accounting, this role will support accounting, reporting, and operational activities across investment vehicles and institutional mandates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting entries related to assigned investment structures.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard assets through effective application of financial policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Support preparation of schedules related to offering documents and collaborate on financial analysis and investor-facing materials.
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Calculate and process distributions to investors/unit holders.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly accounting processes, including distribution calculations, management fee calculations, oversight of investment-related expenses, and related reporting deliverables.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues or irregularities within accounting records or funding activities.
  • Perform cash reconciliations and cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare valuation and performance calculations in accordance with established policies, including discounted cash flow (DCF) and internal rate of return (IRR) analyses, for review by external auditors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) required.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within investments, asset management, or financial services.
  • Exposure to investment or fund-related accounting is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS; familiarity with US GAAP and taxable income concepts is an asset.
  • Experience handling high-volume transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full-cycle accounting experience considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with foundational public practice experience, complemented by at least one year of experience in an industry setting.
