Pastry Chef
A HACCP commercial bakery located in Etobicoke is looking for a Pastry Chef to join our team.
Position: Pastry Chef (approx 35-40 hours per week)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday-Friday (daytime hours) – NO WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS
Location: Etobicoke near Kipling Station
Pastry Chefs are responsible to follow the recipes and instructions to ensure good quality product is produced at all times.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for safety of the operation of the equipment.
Responsible for reporting any equipment malfunctions immediately to the Manager.
Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and free of hazards.
Responsible for maintaining small tools in a safe place such as knives, thermometers, utensils, etc.
Responsible in operating and maintaining scales, following start-up and change over procedures.
Follow the mixing procedures without changing or modifying.
Responsible in inspecting the raw materials prior to use and record observation on the checklist.
Completing records in a timely manner as well as pre-operational inspection sheet and reporting and discrepancies
Ensures the proper cleaning of equipment.
Work closely with other bakers on the line.
Practicing and adhering to Food Safety, GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Health and Safety.
Job duties are not limited to the above and other reasonable duties may be assigned by the Bakery Manager.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of mixing formulas pertaining to baked goods.
Knowledge in Equipment Safety (Mixer, Depositor, Scale, Oven etc.) and practices
Knowledge of thermometers and their care.
Ability to multi-task by handling various production demands.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures for Health and Safety & GMP.
Ability to prioritize especially with frequent changes.
Lifting ability up to 50 pounds
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be able to communicate in Basic English, both verbal and written.
Have the ability to stand and/or stoop for the full shift.
Ability to work holidays and weekends if needed.
Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
One year work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $16.50-$18.00 per hour
