Production Manager – Food Manufacturing

Location: Mississauga, ON

Reports To: VP of Operations

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established food manufacturing company located in the Mississauga area, known for producing high-quality products distributed across Canada and the U.S. With a strong focus on operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, the company is looking to add a dynamic Production Manager to its leadership team.

Position Overview:

The Production Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of daily plant operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this individual will oversee a team of supervisors and production staff, driving performance through effective leadership, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaboration with cross-functional departments.

Key Responsibilities:


• Oversee daily production operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and adherence to food safety and quality standards (HACCP, SQF, GMP).


• Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and production staff to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.


• Monitor KPIs, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to meet or exceed production goals.


• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to optimize production flow and minimize downtime.


• Drive Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance process consistency.


• Support strategic planning and budgeting, including capacity planning, labor management, and capital projects.


• Ensure compliance with all company policies, health & safety regulations, and food manufacturing standards.

Qualifications:


• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Production Manager within the food or CPG manufacturing industry.


• Strong understanding of food safety systems, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.


• Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.


• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is considered a strong asset.


• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.


• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Food Science, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
