As a producer, you will be responsible for planning, conceiving and developing the production of one
of CBCs most popular television series. You will collaborate with other members of the Dragons.
Den team to prepare program objectives, develop content and prepare scripts. You will work with
the Unit Manager to handle financial and production resource requirements and maintain contacts in
the assignment area. You will ultimately evaluate all facets of production and manage the team as a
whole.
Plans, conceives, organizes, and/or develops the production and realization of a program segment,
program, or series. Work must adhere to CBC journalistic and/or program policies, standards and
practices and the Producer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs. Nevertheless,
there is wide latitude for initiative, independent judgment and creativity. There is a regular and
ongoing requirement to coordinate the work of others.
As Required, Performs The Following Tasks
- prepare programs for the Internet, including coding, and manipulating images and graphics;
- edit and mix, or direct the editing and mixing of audio and/or visual elements;
- assure the maintenance of a level of communication or rapport with members of the
audience which is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the program and
participate in this activity as necessary.
We Are Looking For a Candidate With The Following
- Completion of a university degree or equivalent is required.
- Exceptional story editing skills.
- 5 years experience required, of which three must involve work directly with related television
network programming.
- A broad understanding of and interest in contemporary small business, venture capital, and
business start-ups/entrepreneurship.
- Experience working in a studio based production;
- Experience in planning, overseeing and producing field and sponsor segments with a small
production team.
- Experience overseeing Post scheduling on short turnarounds.
- Proven ability to exercise strong editorial judgment under very tight deadlines.
- A keen interest in finding new ways to creatively push the look of the program; able to work
with and enhance the visual brand package.
- Strong writing and presentation skills, especially writing VO to picture while supervising an
edit.
- Ability to produce paper edits, without supervision.
- Strong creative skills.
- Proven ability to produce high-impact creative programming that will effectively
communicate key messages.
- Able to work with and direct graphic artists and other video specialty professionals, both
internally and externally.
- Able to work flexible hours (including evening and weekends).
- Able to function well in a hectic, sometimes stressful environment, to handle multiple
priorities and simultaneous projects, and to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
