Title: Part-Time House Manager & Family Aide

Employment Type: Part-time (8 hours/week)
Proposed Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $28-32/hour based on experience
Requirements: Able to maintain a smoke-free environment, reliable transportation, able to pass background check, fully vaccinated (flu and Covid), legally authorized to work in Vancouver, B.C.
Proposed Schedule: Two 4-hour shifts per week; one on Monday or Tuesday with flexible daytime hours; second shift on Friday or Saturday evening, 7-11pm
About Our Family: We're a family of four with two girls (ages 4 and 1.5), looking for a part-time house manager who can help lighten the load at home and give the parents a much-needed weekly date night after the kids are in bed. One parent works from home, while the other spends most days caring for our youngest and keeping things running smoothly. Our older daughter attends preschool, and with the majority of childcare, cleaning, and shopping already covered, this role focuses more on family laundry, organization, and light meal prep, helping take some of the daily chaos and clutter off our plates so our home feels peaceful and put-together, even in the midst of young family life.
Who We're Looking For: Our ideal candidate is resourceful, attentive, and confident taking initiative. The person we're looking for is:
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with an eye for efficient systems and processes
- Intuitive and self-sufficient—able to spot what's needed and handle household tasks without much oversight
- Personable, professional, and easy to communicate with day-to-day
- Warm and reliable, fitting easily into the family's rhythm
- Comfortable and friendly with kids; doesn't mind playing and engaging with small children on occasion
Key Responsibilities:
Childcare Assistance & Family Admin Support
- Be at our house one weekend evening each week, in case the kids wake up while we are out (parents will put kids to bed before leaving)
- Open to light supervision, playtime, or back-up childcare, especially when parents are ill occasional backup support for children, especially if/when parents are sick
- Scan and organize paperwork; maintain family records (e.g., immunizations)
Household Management & Organization
- Create and maintain household organization systems (closets, drawers, storage, pantry, garage, children's rooms and art supplies/toys, etc.)
- Reset and tidy rooms on each visit (vacuum high-traffic areas, load/unload dishwasher, wipe counters); ensure home is prepped for weekly cleaning services
- Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and pick ups
- Manage children's clothing organization, including size transitions, hand-me-downs, and seasonal wardrobe rotations
- Coordinate with service providers for home repairs and seasonal maintenance (gutters, HVAC, handymen, plumbers)
- Manage minor household repairs, such as replacing lightbulbs and batteries, paint touch-ups, swapping HVAC filters, etc.
- Oversee outdoor spaces, such as sweeping the deck, keeping the front yard weeded and trimmed, etc.
- Flatten cardboard recycling
Errands & Inventory Management
- Create and manage household supply lists (pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies), adding updating online subscriptions and orders with Amazon, Target, etc.
- Unpack, restock, and organize household supplies upon delivery
- Run errands as needed: Amazon returns, picking up/refilling the Soda Stream's CO2 canister
Meal Planning, Prep & Kitchen Support
- Pre-cut ingredients for family dinners using supplies and recipes provided by our meal delivery service
- Batch prep snacks, cut up fruit and vegetables to have on hand
- Pack school lunches for 4-year-old as needed (prepped for the next day)
- Clean out expired food from refrigerator on a weekly basis
- Keep the kitchen tidy post-meal prep
- Descale coffee machine as needed
- Create and maintain kitchen organization systems (drawers, pantry)
Laundry & Linen Care
- Full laundry care for the family, including washing, drying, folding, and organizing
- Ensure towels, bedding, and household linens are cleaned, fresh, and neatly stored
- Maintain an organized system and schedule for clothing and linens to keep the household running smoothly
- Keep laundry areas clean and stocked
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
- Tackle monthly deep cleans (humidifiers, washing machine, air purifiers, etc.)
- Organize special projects (e.g., getting seasonal decorations from storage and helping with setting up/putting away)
Vehicle Management
- Schedule and oversee maintenance, oil changes, and inspections for family car
- Ensure vehicle is fueled, cleaned, and organized
- Track registration, insurance, and service schedules
