Full-Time Dispatch Assistant

Monday to Friday – 06:00AM-2:30PM

We are looking for a highly organized Dispatch Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join our team at our Coquitlam Terminal. The successful candidate will support day-to-day dispatch operations to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of freight.

What You'll Do:

  • Enter pickup and delivery information accurately into the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Contact customers to confirm delivery arrangements and provide updates as required.
  • Make outbound calls to consignees and other stakeholders on behalf of Dispatchers.
  • Schedule and book delivery appointments, ensuring all details are recorded in the TMS.
  • Greet and assist drivers and customers at the dispatch window in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain and update Bill of Lading (BOL) notes with relevant shipment information.
  • Support Dispatchers with administrative tasks and coordination of duties as needed.
  • Proactively address and help resolve logistical issues or scheduling conflicts.
  • Perform other related duties and administrative support tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12, with a minimum of one (1) year transportation industry experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of LTL freight-handling requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of the geography of British Columbia.
  • Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) preferred.
  • Dispatch and customer service experience preferred.

  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize self, prioritize tasks, and allocate time and resources accordingly to ensure completion within set timelines.
  • Customer focused and responds to inquiries in a timely manner; takes responsibility for meeting internal and external customer requirements and solving problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to be effective in requesting and delivering information.
  • Self-starter who has the ability to exercise considerable independence, judgement, confidence in decision-making and requires minimal supervision; takes initiatives to make things happen without being asked and anticipates tasks that need to be done.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime as required.

Pay: $24.50-$27.22 per hour
