Earl's Pharmacy is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Patient Focused Care Responsibilities:
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
- Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
- Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
- Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
- Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
- Independent complex order entry, address insurance claims and billing issues, flag concerns to pharmacists, and ensure accurate paperwork submission.
- Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste according to regulations
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
- Assist pharmacists with clerical tasks, report printing, and distribution
- Audit narcotic prescriptions and schedule outdated pharmaceutical reviews.
- Handle expired medications and returns to McKesson.
- Manage McKesson orders and coordinate with secondary suppliers.
- Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Long-Term Care Home Visits:
- A valid driver's licence is required, along with access to a reliable personal motor vehicle for weekly Long-Term Care Home visits.
- Reimbursement will be provided for the use of your personal motor vehicle for these trips.
- Conduct weekly visits for refills, med returns, audits, and stat box management.
- Support monthly billing and batch fill processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
- Care home experience is considered beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience in advanced skills (e.g., Compounding, automation, central fill, compliance packaging, OAT).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software, Kroll is an asset.
- Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week.
- The usual shifts will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- 8-hour shifts
- Shifts may include weekends, such as a Wednesday through Sunday schedule (preferred), or may be assigned on a rotating basis.
