hands-on Accounting Manager
to join their team in
Whitby, Ontario
.
This is an
on-site role
where you'll work closely with the leadership team to drive financial strategy, manage reporting, and support operational excellence. If you thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and enjoy rolling up your sleeves, this could be the perfect fit.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic financial direction and insights to senior leadership
- Manage all accounting functions including AR, AP payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax regulations
- Supervise and mentor one accounting staff member
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and process improvements
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions
- Lead the implementation of
NetSuite ERP
(experience with NetSuite is a strong asset) - Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Collaborate across departments to support project planning and financial decisions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
- Experience in construction, millwork, or project-based industries is an asset
- Familiarity with subcontractor management, payroll, and invoicing
- Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and leadership
