Detail oriented, methodical, and logical, you have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new business and technical concepts. As our BI Specialist, you're a key member of the Enterprise Analytics team, supporting Canfor's operational and digital transformation by designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions. You'll focus on building effective Power BI reports and dashboards, transforming business requirements into actionable insights, and ensuring data accuracy and usability. You'll also collaborate closely with Solution Developers, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver analytics solutions that drive measurable business value.
A Day in the Life of a BI Specialist Includes:
BI Solution Development
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models.
- Translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
- Ensure BI solutions align with enterprise architecture, data governance, and business strategy.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with Senior Solution Developer and cross-functional teams (Data Engineering, Business Analytics, etc.).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for BI solutions.
- Document BI solutions, including design specifications and user guides.
Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate and implement new features and best practices in Power BI and related analytics platforms.
- Champion automation, reusability, and standardization in BI development.
For this Role, you'll come Equipped With:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or specialized training/certification in data and analytics
- A minimum of 2 years of data and analytics experience in a highly complex environment
- Strong understanding of best practices in data warehousing and data modelling
- Experience with enterprise resource planning, transportation, and operational systems
- Strong proficiency in Power BI, Power Query.
- Experience with SQL and modern analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of data management and data governance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
The salary range for this position is: $61,600.00-$88,000.00
