What you can expect to do here:
- Lead field survey crews in the collection of topographic, boundary, construction, and control data
- Interpret project plans, legal descriptions, and survey requirements to plan daily field activities
- Operate and maintain survey equipment including GNSS receivers, total stations, and data collectors
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of field data and documentation
- Collaborate with office staff to process data and resolve discrepancies
- Train and supervise junior crew members, fostering a culture of safety and technical excellence
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients
- Provide field notes, sketches, and digital records in accordance with company standards
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a party chief role
- Proficiency in modern survey equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Civil 3D, MicroSurvey)
- Strong understanding of geodetic principles, boundary analysis, and construction layout
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites (5-10%)
- Chainsaw experience and training is an asset
- Willingness to travel for short duration projects out of town.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Graduate of Centre of Geographic Science (COGS), EIT designation, or equivalent is an asset
