Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payments. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles. The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a vital role in processing and maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Duties
- Process and verify invoices using accounting software such as QuickBooks or ERP
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of payments and expenses
- Obtain approval of invoices, expense reports and credit card statements from appropriate manager
- Reconcile expenses on credit card statements with supporting documents.
- Ensure accuracy of HST charged on invoices
- Code invoices, expense reports and credit cards statements to proper GL expense, enter and post into ERP system
- Process cheques and ensure that vendors are paid on a timely basis.
- Set up wire payments on online banking system and post in ERP system
- Process journal entries for bank transfers.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving if applicable
- Manage accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments
- Maintain vendor records and assist with vendor inquiries
- Enter data accurately into Ceridian, or other payroll systems
- Assist with accounts receivable tasks as needed
- Support bookkeeping activities including data entry and record keeping
- Conduct analysis of financial data to identify discrepancies or issues
- Payroll processing and related activities
- Upload timesheets and process bi-weekly payroll for direct deposit
- Enroll new employees in timesheet and payroll systems.
- Prepare reports related to accounts payable and other financial metrics
- Receive and review invoices for accuracy
Qualifications
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Ceridian or other ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, payroll processing, and bookkeeping practices
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy
- Analytical skills for account reconciliation and financial analysis
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Prior experience in accounts payable or related finance roles is preferred
- Knowledge of human resources processes related to payroll is a plus
