Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the smooth functioning of various accounting processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in bookkeeping, data entry, and accounting software (QuickBooks) to contribute to our organization's financial health and efficiency.

Duties

  • Maintain general ledger, including, but not limited to preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, managing petty cash etc.
  • Maintain a complete set of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities, including an updated filing system
  • Assist management and other team members in developing and maintaining policy and procedure documentation for financial and accounting issues.
  • Timely preparation of month end financial statements and reconciliations
  • Ensure that receivables are collected in a timely manner
  • Responsible for tax compliance and remittance of Federal, Provincial, State, local, corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.
  • Reconcile all customer and sales tax to ensure their accuracy.
  • Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner, taking advantage of any reasonable discounts
  • Prepare Y/E working papers and support file for external accountant.
  • Assist with preparation for any audits or reviews.
  • Monthly bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations
  • Update and preparation of work in process and deferred revenue spreadsheets, including related journal entries
  • Maintenance of fixed asset continuity schedule and posting of related accounting entries
  • Prepare reports deemed necessary by management
  • Employee onboarding and administration, including benefits, RRSP program, union dues, etc.
  • Work closely with management to oversee cash flow requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience
  • Degree in business or finance, with an accounting focus
  • Strong accounting core technical and daily bookkeeping skills including payroll and ledger management
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, including work in process
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and QuickBooks Desktop
  • Detail-oriented mindset with high quality output
  • Experience accounting for multiple currencies and exchange
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team

This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our financial operations and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate accounting practices.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
