Job Title: Head Chef (Solo Kitchen Operator)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Head Chef to independently manage and operate our breakfast-focused kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and can execute a full breakfast menu solo, maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and efficiency. The Head Chef will be responsible for all aspects of breakfast preparation, service, inventory management, and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Food Preparation & Execution
  • Prepare, cook, and plate all breakfast menu items, ensuring consistency in taste, timing, and presentation.
  • Manage high-volume morning service efficiently and independently.
  • Menu Management
  • Assist with breakfast menu updates and creation of specials.
  • Develop new breakfast items based on customer demand and ingredient availability.
  • Kitchen Operations
  • Open the kitchen early and prepare all morning mise en place.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace throughout service.
  • Ensure equipment (griddles, ovens, fryers, etc.) is properly maintained and fully operational.
  • Inventory & Ordering
  • Track inventory levels and perform regular stock checks for breakfast-specific ingredients.
  • Place orders with suppliers and manage morning deliveries.
  • Reduce waste through careful planning, prep, and rotation.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and safety documentation.
  • Efficiency & Time Management
  • Manage prep timelines to ensure all breakfast items are ready for opening.
  • Organize workflow and multitask effectively during peak morning hours.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Line Cook, ideally in a breakfast or brunch-focused kitchen.
  • Strong culinary skills with the ability to execute multiple breakfast items solo.
  • Excellent organization, multitasking, and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best kitchen practices.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of a fast-paced morning service.
  • Creativity and passion for high-quality breakfast dishes.

Working Conditions:

  • Solo kitchen operation; comfort working without additional kitchen staff.
  • Early morning start times and weekend availability required.
  • Must be able to lift 15–30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
