Job Description

Our client is seeking an Accountant to join their team in Halifax. This is a hands-on, contract role ideal for an accounting professional eager to gain exposure across multiple properties and support day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Maintain accounting records for multiple properties
  • Support the month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare financial reports, balance sheet schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze variances and support budget preparation and reporting
  • Reconcile daily cash, credit card deposits, and bank activity
  • Monitor adherence to internal controls and report any discrepancies
  • Support audit preparation by compiling working papers and documentation

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation or in progress is an asset
  • 2 – 4 years of progressive accounting experience; previous experience in a portfolio-based environment is a a definite asset
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word; Sage 300 experience is a plus
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a flexible and adaptable approach
