Toronto, Ontario, Canada Releady Full time

OVERVIEW

Title: Calypso Systems Analyst
Type: Contract (6 months, with high potential for extension or full-time conversion)
Schedule: Full-time, 9 AM–5 PM EST, hybrid (2 days in office weekly — Monday and one floating day)
Level: Junior–Intermediate

Hourly Rate: up to $66/hour T4

This role supports system and process improvement initiatives across Capital Markets Middle Office and Derivative Operations. The Calypso Systems Analyst plays a critical part in bridging business and technology functions — managing system configurations, gathering requirements, executing user testing, and driving project delivery for derivatives-related initiatives. The position requires hands-on experience with Calypso configuration, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced, global capital markets environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems & Business Analysis

  • Lead the analysis, documentation, and validation of business requirements for Calypso system enhancements and process improvements.

  • Identify gaps between current and desired functionality to support derivative product operations.

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams for system-related issues and enhancements.

  • Capture, analyze, and communicate requirements clearly to ensure solutions align with business needs and compliance standards.

Testing & Implementation

  • Develop and execute comprehensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans for Calypso initiatives.

  • Recommend actions and remediation based on test results to ensure system stability and usability.

  • Support the implementation of new business initiatives, products, and regulatory changes within Capital Markets operations.

Stakeholder & Project Delivery

  • Serve as the key point of contact for project delivery activities across multiple business lines.

  • Facilitate large group sessions with diverse stakeholders to gather and validate requirements for complex projects.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations and updates on project progress, priorities, and strategic initiatives for senior management.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent communication and successful execution of deliverables.

Advisory & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide consultation and support to business partners on system automation, operational efficiency, and process improvements.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives and service improvements within derivative operations.

  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements impacting derivatives and capital markets operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in business analysis or operations support, ideally within Capital Markets or Derivative Operations.

  • Strong hands-on configuration and/or operational experience with Calypso (mandatory).

  • Advanced understanding of trading products, product operations, and middle-office workflows.

  • Familiarity with SDLC, project management methodologies, and testing frameworks.

  • Exposure to tools such as workflow diagrams, feasibility studies, and data/process modeling.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

  • Professional designations such as MBA, CFA, CBAP, PMP, FRM, or DMS are considered strong assets.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.

  • Experience translating complex requirements into clear technical or process solutions.

  • Skilled in creating and delivering professional presentations and documentation.

  • Ability to handle multiple deliverables and competing priorities in a structured manner.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.

  • Proactive, energetic, and adaptable — thrives in change and ambiguity.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing abilities across technical and business audiences.

  • Team-oriented with the confidence to operate independently when needed.

Nice-to-Have

  • Accounting or operational experience within a capital markets environment.

  • Global perspective on derivatives trading and operations.
