The London District Catholic School Board has a reputation for excellence, with more than 4,700 employees working together to educate approximately 28,000 students at 44 elementary schools, 9 secondary schools and St. Patrick Adult & Continuing Education within Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties, including the cities of London, St. Thomas, Strathroy and Woodstock.

The London District Catholic School Board is currently accepting applications for:

Position: French as a Second Language (FSL) Teacher

Location:St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School, London

Permanent Assignment

Schedule/Salary: As per Collective Agreement

In accordance with Article 20:03 l (iv) A teacher hired to fill a position that is posted outside of the transfer and posting process as outlined in Article l) shall be notified by the Board at the time of hire that they shall be declared surplus for the following school year, in accordance with Article 21. The position shall then be made available to all permanent teachers in the first round of the next transfer and posting process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Education Degree and be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • For an applicant to be considered qualified for the position, the applicant shall hold the required qualifications, as per the Education Act and Regulations (as recorded on the Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification at the time of this posting), in the subject(s) and division(s) identified in this posting.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous elementary teaching experience preferred
  • Teaching experience in a Catholic school system is preferred

  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession, and the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession

  • A practicing Catholic with an active Catholic Faith life
  • Proficient knowledge & understanding of Ontario curriculum, evaluation & assessment techniques
  • Current in understanding of research, integrating technology and best instructional practices
  • Effective classroom management skills and ability to create a welcoming and safe Catholic learning environment for all student

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Registration in Good Standing and Certificate of Qualification
  • Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate or equivalent, or proof of initiation into the Roman Catholic Church

  • Copies of most recent Performance Appraisal and/or Practice Teaching Reports.
  • Pre-service Roman Catholic Religious Education Course is preferred
