About the Opportunity

A well-established, privately held company in the industrial services and equipment sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee its accounting and financial operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys improving systems, processes, and financial visibility. The company has operated successfully for several decades, with consistent growth and a strong reputation for quality and reliability.

As the business continues to evolve, this role will help strengthen financial governance, reporting accuracy, and strategic decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities; provide variance analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage working capital and cash flow to support operations and growth.

Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain sound accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and support external audits.
  • Monitor financial risks and recommend improvements where needed.

Operational & Strategic Support

  • Partner with management and operations teams to support profitability and efficiency.
  • Provide financial analysis for planning, investments, and process improvements.
  • Assist in system enhancements and data-driven reporting.

Leadership & Development

  • Supervise accounting and administrative personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • CPA (CA, CGA, CMA, or equivalent) designation required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including several years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in full-cycle accounting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Experience in industrial, service, or manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are an asset.
