We're looking for an analytical and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the accounting and finance operations. The successful candidate will assist with month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has a passion for accuracy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Controller in managing all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.
  • Support system and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or multi-entity environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a collaborative mindset.
