About Us

We are a boutique accounting firm in Calgary with nine employees. Our mission is to help small businesses across Alberta succeed by providing reliable bookkeeping, tax and payroll services. Our culture is friendly, collaborative and client‑focused. Due to continued growth, we are hiring a Junior Accountant / Accounting Technician to join our team on a full‑time basis.

What You'll Do

  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.

  • Update accounts receivable (e.g., issue invoices) and accounts payable, perform reconciliations and maintain accurate ledgers.

  • Assist with monthly payroll calculations and related source deductions. Prepare and file GST/HST returns, T4 and T5 slips, and support personal and corporate income‑tax filings.

  • Help compile balance sheets, income statements and other financial reports in accordance with accounting guidelines.

  • Work with senior accountants during month‑end and year‑end closings, including adjusting entries and compiling working papers.

  • Maintain organized client records, respond to client enquiries, and perform light office administration.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post‑secondary education in accounting, finance or business; a bachelor's degree or diploma is preferred. Candidates pursuing CPA designations are welcome.

  • Experience in bookkeeping or accounts payable/receivable. While 2–3 years' experience is ideal, we will consider graduates with relevant co‑op or practicum experience.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices. Ability to post journal entries, update financial statements and handle payroll.

  • Proficiency with cloud‑based accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage 50) and MS Excel. Familiarity with CaseWare, Profile and TaxCycle is an asset.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and analytical ability. Comfortable learning new software systems and keeping documents well organized.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to build positive relationships with clients and team members.

  • Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a small team environment.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Our typical work week is 39 hours a week, except February through April which is 48 hours.
