Our Arcadia Program – Oakwood Home in Red Deer is seeking a Live in Male Housing Mentor

The Arcadia program is for youths between 16 and 24 who have been homeless for three months or have a history of episodic homelessness that spans a significant portion of the last few years. Referrals are accepted based on youth without a permanent place of residence; living on the street, in shelters or places not intended or suitable for permanent residency; "couch surfing" or living off others for short periods of time. The program focus is client-centered and strength-based and works with each youth to establish goals and identify steps to achieving these goals. 

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

- Knowledge and sensitivity to challenges that may affect youth housing.

- Willingness to engage and work with the youth and the housing coordinator.

- Intervention Record Check & Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector.

- Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and infant CPR &AED (training can be provided internally for successful applicant)

- Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training (training can be provided internally for successful applicant)

- Class 5 drivers license, clean drivers abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation required.

Responsibilities include:

The successful candidate will be a mentor for males living at our Oakwood home in Red Deer. This person will offer support and positive role modeling to the males living in the upstairs suits. In lieu of financial compensation the successful candidate will live complementary and receive a small monthly honorarium. The mentor has their own living space.
