About Us

Family Services of Central Alberta (FSCA) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families across Central Alberta. Our mission is to assist people in maintaining dignity, enhancing autonomy, and strengthening relationships through supportive programs and excellent human services. We believe the family is the most valuable resource to its members— and we invest in that belief every day.

As an employer, FSCA fosters a workplace rooted in respect, accountability, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. We offer a supportive team environment and meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a highly professional, compassionate, and self- motivated individual to join our team as a Mentor in the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP).

PCAP is a proven, relationship-based home visitation program that supports pregnant or parenting women who are at risk due to substance use. This role involves building long-term, trusting relationships with families, supporting them in accessing treatment and services, and helping them achieve healthier outcomes for themselves and their children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive, in-home mentoring and support to mothers at risk.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Empower families to access services related to addiction recovery, mental health, parenting, housing, and child development.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using program-specific databases.
  • Work independently in the field while maintaining consistent communication with the program supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Social Services, Psychology, or a related human services field.
  • Experience working with families affected by substance use, addictions, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and mental health challenges.
  • Solid understanding of child development and trauma-informed practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with high-risk families in a non- judgmental and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with technology and comfortable using data tracking systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Driver's License, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel.
  • A current Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child Intervention Record Check are required.

Why Join Us?

At FSCA, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a passionate, mission- driven team in a role that truly makes a difference. We are committed to supporting our staff with training, flexibility, and a healthy work-life balance.
