Reporting to the Regional Community Oral Health Coordinator, the Community Oral Health Coordinator is responsible for promoting oral health, providing dental education, and delivering primary preventative care for children aged 0–12 years. This role involves engaging with community partners, including schools, daycares, and local programs, to ensure children have access to oral health services. The Coordinator also supports the work of visiting oral health professionals, such as dentists, dental therapists, and dental hygienists, by coordinating activities and facilitating community-based programming.

The Community Oral Health Coordinator carries out a range of duties to support oral health promotion and prevention initiatives, including:

  • Promoting and delivering oral health programming for children aged 0–12 years.
  • Identifying and supporting target cohorts for oral health promotion and prevention initiatives.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between the community and visiting dental professionals.
  • Assisting in delivering oral health education and coordinating community initiatives.
  • Organizing office activities and traveling to other communities to support dental teams as needed.
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through completing a High School Diploma and one year of experience working in an office environment.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired though a High School Diploma and one (1) year experience in providing dental services, office administration or related field. The ability to communicate in Inuktitut and English is a requirement. The willingness to complete Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation First Aid training and COHC training program is required.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
