**Job Description**:
***:Under the direction of the CEO, provides strategic marketing coordination and leadership for the economic development division of the CEDC.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day marketing operations of the economic development section of the CEDC.
- Identifies, plans, and implements short
- and long-range marketing and communication objectives and action plans to meet strategic plan goals.
- Provides creative direction and manages production of all marketing campaigns, branding, content and materials.
- Maintains up to date knowledge and awareness of emerging trends, developments and issues within marketing and communications.
- Provides economic development sections with strategic counsel, planning and tools to support business goals, engage stakeholders, clients and attract investment and people to promote growth.
- Acts as liaison between CEDC and media, provides coaching to staff regarding media relations.
- Leads the development of corporate media releases, public events, trades shows and news conferences.
- Leads the development of corporate presentations, public documents, speaking notes.
- Leads the development of marketing targets and analyzes metrics and results.
- Coordinates marketing and communications messaging with City of Thunder Bay Corporate Communications team where appropriate and shares content and materials where possible.
- Assess section staffing needs, makes recommendations on complement amendments and organizational structure, participates in recruitment processes and makes effective hiring decisions.
- Supervises Section staff including staff development, performance management review, coaching, mentoring, health and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Degree in communications, marketing, business, or a communication, together with four years of related experience; or
- Diploma in communications, marketing, business or communications, together with six years of related experience
- Previous supervisory experience.

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated skills in the development of marketing and communications strategies, campaigns, content and materials.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the knowledge of current and emerging marketing and communications trends and best practices.
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Superior ability to establish and maintain effective relationships private and public officials, the business community, stakeholders, subordinates, co-workers, and the general public.
- Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to develop marketing partnerships.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to give direction, motivate and recognize others; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
- Proficiency with software including design software and digital photography.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software.
- Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
- Working beyond normal hours will be required from time to time
