About the Role

We are a growing accounting and tax services firm based in Cambridge, Ontario, providing personal and small business tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll services. During tax season, we are seeking motivated Accounting students to join our team as Tax Associates (Interns).

This role is designed as a work-integrated learning internship that provides hands-on exposure to real-world tax preparation and accounting operations under the supervision of experienced tax professionals.

Key Responsibilities

As a Tax Associate (Intern), you will support the firm during peak tax season and gain exposure to core accounting and tax functions, including:

  • Assisting with the preparation of personal income tax returns (T1) under supervision
  • Collecting, organizing, and reviewing client tax documentation
  • Entering financial data into tax and accounting software
  • Supporting bookkeeping tasks, including bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Assisting with payroll data entry and basic payroll processing
  • Performing administrative and compliance-related tasks during tax season
  • Maintaining confidentiality and data accuracy in all client records
  • Supporting senior tax staff with ad-hoc tax season projects

Candidate Requirements

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a college or post-secondary accounting, business, or finance program including recent graduates
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Professionalism and commitment to confidentiality

Preferred (but not required)

  • Prior exposure to bookkeeping or accounting coursework
  • Familiarity with basic tax concepts
  • Interest in pursuing a career in accounting or tax services
  • HRBlock Tax Academy Income Tax Level 1 (Federal) Certification
  • One or more tax season experiences with tax preparation firms
  • Proficiency with tax preparation softwares such as TaxCycle, iFirm Taxprep, or ProFile
  • Proficiency with accounting softwares such as Xero or QuickBooks
