As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will support the Calgary Police Service regarding human resources practices and procedures. Primary duties include:

  • Collaborate with managers, employees and bargaining unit representatives to solve problems, achieve positive solutions and realize strategic business goals.
  • Analyze business changes, business process or staffing realignment.
  • Provide input and recommendations on organizational structure and effectiveness.
  • Make informed recommendations by recognizing the broader implications of issues and opportunities.
  • Provide guidance to leadership in the interpretation of policy, programs and collective agreements.
  • Project management including the development of project charters, project scope statements and project plans.
  • Consult, advise and provide support in the following areas: recruiting, workforce planning, organizational design and effectiveness, compensation, employee and labour relations, grievance handling, performance management and human resource programs.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Human Resources or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related human resources experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Collaborative, responsive and service-oriented approach and proven ability to immediately establish credibility and able to influence change. Sound judgment and exceptional interpersonal skills are required.
  • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with labour relations experience in a multi-union environment and/or to candidates with strong experience in organizational development.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to apply your experience to problem solve and generate proactive strategies are essential. You have strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with individuals. Operate independently and work effectively within a team environment.

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Days of Work: This position works a 35 hour

compressed 4 days work schedule
