Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within a restaurant or food service environment. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This role offers an opportunity to showcase your expertise in Japanese cuisine and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of our establishment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, creativity, and adherence to recipes and presentation standards
- Handle all aspects of food preparation, including slicing fish, preparing rice, and assembling various sushi rolls and sashimi
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure all ingredients are stored properly and rotated regularly to maintain freshness
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi options and presentation techniques
- Serve customers directly when needed, providing excellent food service and answering questions about menu items
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate supply needs to management
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within the food industry, restaurant experience preferred
- Strong skills in serving, food preparation, cooking, and meal presentation
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment with attention to detail
- Excellent knife skills and familiarity with traditional sushi techniques
- Kitchen experience in the food service or restaurant industry is highly desirable
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety at all times
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; prior experience in the food industry is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
