Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef Apprentice to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food handling within the food industry. As a Sushi Chef Apprentice, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and food safety. Your expertise in food preparation and cooking techniques will contribute to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Duties

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes according to traditional recipes and restaurant standards.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly handled, and stored according to food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service during peak hours.
  • Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal specials.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management.
  • Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests when necessary and accommodating special requests.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Cook, Maki Maker or in a similar role within the food service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation techniques, and kitchen safety practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and creativity in meal presentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with various types of sushi, ingredients, and cooking methods is preferred.
  • A passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
