Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Seaspan Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities, and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

As an Intern, you will assist the Supply Chain Procurement team on new construction projects at Seaspan Shipyards. Under the direction of the Procurement Lead and in close support of the subcontracts team, you will gain hands-on experience in high-volume purchasing execution, supplier engagement, and project coordination across multiple major ship programs.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

  • Support the preparation of material requisition requests to ensure timely delivery of materials to subcontractors

  • Assist in managing purchase orders, including updates, tracking, and close-outs to ensure accuracy and timeliness

  • Maintain and update supplier performance dashboards, backlog trackers, and material availability reports to provide real-time visibility to leadership

  • Represent procurement in cross-functional project management meetings, capturing key actions, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring updates are delivered back to the team to support project execution

  • Assist with RFQs, supplier follow-ups, invoices, close-out processing, and schedule-change coordination

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure procurement deliverables are aligned with production requirements and supplier schedules

  • Assist with procurement data analysis by reviewing purchase orders, supplier performance metrics, and project reports to identify trends and support decision-making

What you'll bring

  • Enrollment in a Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related undergraduate program (2nd or 3rd year preferred)

  • Strong interest in procurement, supply chain operations, project management, and data analytics within a large-scale shipbuilding environment

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data-analysis tools; willingness to learn enterprise systems such as IFS (MRP) and JD Edwards (ERP) is an asset

  • Ability to read and interpret data, reports, and supplier documentation with strong attention to detail

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Why you'll love working here

  • A supportive learning environment with exposure to one of Canada's most complex shipbuilding programs

  • Opportunity to work with large-scale shipbuilding commodities including custom-fabricated parts, pipe spools, and major structural assemblies

  • Practical skills development in procurement, supplier management, and project coordination

  • Hands-on experience in a high-volume, dynamic supply-chain environment

  • Parking included; complimentary shuttle bus provided Monday–Friday with various pick-up and drop-off points around North Vancouver

Seaspan's Internships are 4 or 8 months in duration. We require a full-time commitment Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday, January 12th, 2026

End Date of Internship: Friday, August 28th, 2026

Please submit your Resume, Cover Letter and Academic Transcript as one PDF document.

Application Closing Date: Sunday, October 19th, 2025, at 11:59pm PST.
