hybrid Toronto Ontario Canada fulltime December Tetra Trust Full time
Chief Operating Officer Calgary, AB (preferred) or Toronto, ON
Who We Are Tetra Digital Group is building the future of money in Canada. Our focus is simple: create the trusted infrastructure that allows major financial institutions to participate confidently in digital assets.
Since launching in 2019, we've stayed rooted in one belief, institutions will only move meaningfully into digital assets when custody feels as safe, compliant, and Canadian as the rest of their portfolio. That conviction led us to become Canada's first regulated digital-asset custodian. Today, we safeguard institutional assets across the country and are backed by partners who share our vision, including Wealthsimple, Shopify, National Bank, Coinbase and others.
We're now entering a new phase: launching Canada's first regulated stablecoin and expanding beyond custody into a broader digital-asset infrastructure ecosystem. We move quickly, build carefully, and hold ourselves to the same standards as the institutions we serve.
What You Are We're looking for a world class COO, someone who can take big ideas and turn them into clear plans, disciplined execution, and measurable results. As the CEO's partner, you'll shape how the company operates, grows, and scales.
This role blends strategy and execution. You'll help set priorities, build systems that support growth, and make sure teams across the company are aligned, supported, and working toward the right outcomes. You'll also be the person who removes friction, strengthens collaboration, and brings clarity where it's needed most.
Your Mandate Operational Excellence & Scale
  • Build an operating model that turns strategy into consistent, repeatable outcomes.
  • Create company-wide planning frameworks, KPIs, and a healthy operating cadence.
  • Build processes and controls that not only support our current multi-billion-dollar scale but position us for the next phase of growth.
Financial & Business Discipline
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations in partnership with Finance.
  • Embed P&L ownership across the business and drive sustainable revenue and margin growth.
  • Optimize resources, capital, and organizational structure as we scale.
Governance, Risk & Regulatory Alignment
  • Elevate operational governance and risk management to institutional standards.
  • Strengthen our capabilities across custody, payments, and stablecoin operations.
  • Support regulatory and board discussions with clarity and rigor.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Align product, technology, finance, risk, compliance, and client-facing teams.
  • Clarify decision-making, roles, and cross-team workflows.
  • Help the executive team operate as a coordinated, high-performing unit.
Strategic Partner
  • Shape and refine company strategy and ensure execution stays on track.
  • Support communications with investors, regulators, and key partners.
  • Be a stabilizing force and trusted advisor to the CEO and board.

What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
  • The company has a clear, consistent operating rhythm.
  • Teams deliver priorities on time and with transparency.
  • P&L ownership is strengthened and margins improve.
  • Cross-functional blockers are resolved and execution speeds up.
  • Systems and processes support scale, resilience, and audit-readiness.
  • The leadership team is aligned, communicating well, and operating with trust.
  • Forecasting, planning, and reporting run with institutional-grade discipline.

What You Bring Experience & Expertise
  • 12–15+ years in financial services, fintech, payments, custody, consulting, or scaled tech.
  • Direct P&L accountability and experience driving revenue, cost, and margin performance.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian financial regulation and institutional operations.
  • Experience scaling an organization through fast growth or regulatory complexity.
  • A track record of building strong systems for planning, operations, and governance.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving, evolving environments.
Leadership Capabilities
  • Executive presence with boards, regulators, major financial institutions, and investors.
  • Builder mindset, you bring clarity, structure, and action.
  • Strong analytical skills and confident decision-making.
  • Ability to empower and align teams while raising expectations.
  • Calm, transparent, and steady under pressure.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in custody, payments, or stablecoin operations.
  • Exposure to international or multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks.
  • French language skills or strong networks in Ottawa or Bay Street.

What's In It for You
  • The opportunity to help shape foundational financial infrastructure in Canada.
  • Competitive executive compensation, equity, and benefits.
  • A high-talent, low-ego team that values curiosity, humility, and trust.
  • A central role in a pivotal period for digital assets in Canada and globally.

Before You Apply Tetra isn't the right fit for everyone, and that's intentional. If you're looking for predictability, comfort, or a slow pace, this won't be your place. We operate with urgency, high standards, and deep accountability.
If you're a high-output, high-trust operator with real drive, someone who thrives in ambiguity, pushes for excellence, and doesn't stop at "good enough" , we want to hear from you.
This role is based in Calgary or Toronto with a structured hybrid model (minimum 3 days/week in office). During your first 90 days, you'll be in-office full time to build alignment, trust, and operating rhythm.
If you're energized by fintech innovation, motivated by hard problems, and ready to help shape a critical pillar of Canada's financial future, this is your moment.
Submit your resume along with thoughtful responses to the application questions. We're looking for depth, clarity, and genuine insight into who you are, what drives you, and why this challenge matters to you. We're reviewing applications as they come in, and we encourage you not to wait, we're moving quickly. Serious consideration starts with a complete, high-quality application. Posting closes January 9, 2026.
Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging We're committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the country we serve. We encourage applications from women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and others who bring new perspectives. If you require accommodation at any point in the process, we will support you.
