The Role
We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant with at least 3 years of experience to join our team. You will play a key role in maintaining our financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
Key Responsibilities
● Payroll Administration: Manage the bi-weekly payroll process for employees and ensure accurate completion of annual filings (T4s, T4 Summaries, and ROEs).
● Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, generate client invoices, and follow up on overdue accounts.
● Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
● Data Entry: Maintain accurate financial records and general ledgers.
● Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and year-end working papers.
● Compliance: Assist with GST/HST filings and ensure adherence to Canadian accounting standards.
● Administrative/Operations Support: Assist with processing employee expenses, booking hotels and etc., reconciling fuel cards, issuing POs, vendor account management, filing, documentation, and other general office duties as required.
Qualifications
● Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in full-cycle bookkeeping or an accounting support role.
● Education: Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
● Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
● Software: Experience with QuickBooks and Sage is considered a strong asset.
● Payroll: A Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification (or working towards it) is considered an asset.
