The role ensures data systems are well-structured, reliable, and responsive to the needs of the unit, while supporting a culture of data-informed practice through collaboration, training, and process enhancement.ObjectivesDeliver accurate, insightful data analysis and reporting to inform decision-making and planning.Maintain and enhance structured data systems, tools, and documentation to support consistent, high-quality reporting.Collaborate with staff and leadership to align data outputs with service priorities and evolving information needs.Build staff capacity in data systems and promote best practices in data quality, documentation, and use.Job RequirementsThis position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as data analysis, business administration, health administration, or a related discipline), plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in an educational or healthcare setting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:Demonstrated experience working with large and complex datasets, with a strong focus on data accuracy, analysis, and reportingProficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data visualization) and other reporting or business intelligence toolsExperience developing dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for diverse audiences, including internal and external stakeholdersUnderstanding of data quality principles, system integrity, and documentation standardsFamiliarity with electronic records systems (such as Accuro or similar), and experience with data related to health, education, or service deliveryWorking knowledge of financial processes such as invoicing, reconciliations, and tracking within data or reporting contextsStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insightsExperience supporting others in using data systems and reporting tools, including training or documentationAbility to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and apply sound judgment in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to data privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant standards and policiesTerritory Acknowledgement: We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.Equity Statement: UVic is committed to upholding the values of equity, diversity, inclusion and human rights in our living, learning and work environments.
