The BA supports the principles of operational efficiency, compliance, and risk management while enhancing client experience for faculty, researchers, staff, and administrators.Objectives:Process Improvement: Identify, analyze, and redesign business processes to increase efficiency, reduce manual workflows, and strengthen internal controls.Technology Implementation: Lead the adoption and integration of digital tools, including ticketing systems, IPass forms, and AI-enabled workflow solutions.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure processes and systems comply with university policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls, providing guidance and escalating issues as appropriate.Data Analysis & Decision Support: Gather, analyze, and report on data to inform decision-making, support business cases, and measure the impact of improvements.Stakeholder Engagement: Advises leaders and staff, facilitating collaboration, influencing outcomes, and supporting change management across the three departments.Job RequirementsExperience and Education:3+ years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, or project management in large, complex organizations; preferably including experience in unionized environments.Demonstrated experience leading individual and multi-stakeholder projects and implementing digital solutions.Experience with financial systems, including workflow optimization and technology integration.Post-secondary education in business, finance, information technology, law, or a related field.Advanced certifications (e.g., CBAP, CPA, PMP) are an asset.Equivalent combinations of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.Knowledge, skills, and abilities:Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including process mapping, workflow redesign, and quantitative analysis.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, power BI and other relational databases, reporting tools, and data visualization tools.Ability to manage multiple complex projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.Independent, objective, and exercises professional judgment in sensitive or confidential situations.Effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management across diverse units.Experience in law firm operations or administration is an asset, enhancing understanding of legal workflows, document management, and compliance.UVic Core & Leadership Competencies:Personal Effectiveness, Navigating Change, Communication, Teamwork, Service FocusTerritory Acknowledgement: We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.Equity Statement: UVic is committed to upholding the values of equity, diversity, inclusion and human rights in our living, learning and work environments.
