Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Assistant Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. You will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. Your expertise in food safety and handling will ensure that all dishes are prepared in a clean and efficient manner.

Duties

  • Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including tools, equipment, and work surfaces.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation during peak hours.
  • Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of sushi ingredients and placing orders as needed.
  • Provide exceptional service by engaging with customers when necessary to enhance their dining experience.
  • Stay updated on current food trends and techniques to continually improve menu offerings.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is required, with a focus on food service or meal preparation preferred.
  • Familiarity with food handling practices and food safety regulations is essential.
  • Experience in the food industry, particularly in sushi making or Japanese cuisine, is highly desirable.
  • Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on cooking techniques relevant to sushi preparation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
