POSITION SUMMARY

Milton Hydro is hiring an IT Summer Student position to join us through the months of May to the end of August. This position is reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Applications.

KEY DUTIES

Data Solutions & Project Delivery


•    Work closely with vendors and business stakeholders to support and enhance existing Power BI and Microsoft Fabric analytics assets.


•    Partner with data engineering teams to understand and document Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse data structures, including how data models are produced and consumed in Power BI.


•    Support the optimization and maintenance of Power BI semantic models and datasets for performance and usability. 


•    Create or enhance Power BI reports and dashboards as needed, primarily by extending or refining existing content.


•    Gain hands-on experience working in a Microsoft analytics stack, including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure.


•    Build or update simple Power BI visuals and contribute to small Power Apps/Power Automate components using existing patterns.

Generative AI & Agents


•    Help set up Copilot Studio agents using templates; update prompts, actions, and connectors as directed.


•    Run prompt tests, capture results, and document lessons learned; assist with defining simple user stories and acceptance criteria for AI features.


•    Develop a Corporate Policy Agent using Copilot Studio.


•    Draft internal documentation and training materials (e.g., how-to clips, step-by-step guides, FAQs)

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.


•    Working knowledge of SQL and familiarity with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, semantic models), Power BI (datasets, reports, basic DAX).


•    Good understanding of data modeling fundamentals (facts, dimensions, relationships).


•    Basic experience with Python or other analytical tools is considered an asset.


•    Experience with SQL, Pyper, and data modeling best practices.


•    Basic understanding of Generative AI and agentic concepts; willingness to learn Copilot Studio and prompt design.


•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask within expected. 


•    Excellent safety & attendance records are also required.

EDUCATION


•    Currently enrolled in an academic program in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.


•    Coursework or projects demonstrating SQL, data analysis, Power BI reports and dashboards and introductory programming (Python preferred).


•    Interest in Generative AI, NLP, and automation; willingness to learn enterprise tools and compliance processes.
