Apply to be part of our Summer Camps 2026 Supervisory teamAs a Summer Camp Coordinator, you'll be responsible for the administration, program delivery and supervision of Town of Milton camp programs including the extended care program, at one or multiple facilities, ensuring all activities are safe, fun and appropriate. This position reports to the Camp Director.Major Job Responsibilities
What will you be responsible for?
Understanding camp policies and procedures and supporting the entire camp team in following the established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of participants
Supporting the Recreation Coordinators and Camp Directors with the delivery of camp training to staff
Following all established departmental safety standards and practices and Employee Code of Conduct
Developing a camp resource to be used in planning of daily camp activities
Assisting with the development of Camp Supervisor's weekly program plans that uphold the principles of HIGH FIVE and approving program plans
Evaluating situations for potential risks and proactively taking action to address such risks and reporting all incidents/concerns/actions or site damage to supervisor
Reviewing registration numbers weekly, and scheduling staff accordingly to ensure appropriate supervision ratios, including the scheduling of extended care and breaks
Providing administrative support to camps, including creating camp binders with sign in/out sheets, attendance lists and medical forms, and facilitating weekly staff meetings
Ordering materials and supplies, while keeping within allotted budget, completing VISA reconciliation within the deadlines as outlined
Communicating with parents, answering e-mail and phone inquiries in a timely manner, and sending pre-camp welcome email to camp families
Providing leadership and supervision to Camp Supervisors and Leaders, coaching, developing and ensuring all performance expectations are met
Reviewing and approving mid-term and summers end evaluations of Summer Camp Program Leaders within the deadlines as outlined
Assisting with bi-weekly payroll
Carrying out HIGH FIVE staff recognition program and staff appreciation activities and events
Checking in daily with Camp Supervisors and Camp Leaders daily to ensure quality program delivery and ensuring appropriate level of staff to participant numbers; leading related programs where required
Providing support during our extended care periods (7:30-8:30am & 4:30-5:30pm) and leading programs as required
Assisting the Behaviour Specialists with Behaviour Management tracking
Completing QUEST 2 evaluations for required camp sites
Performing all other duties as assigned
What will we need from you?
Ability to work a minimum of 9 weeks during July and August at approximately 40 hours per week, up to a maximum of 44 hours. Actual hours may vary depending on program registration
This position works full-day shifts, Monday to Friday, with standard hours of either 8:15am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 4:45pm. Shift times may vary and can include extended care coverage, as outlined above
Participation in all scheduled paid camp training sessions held during the evenings and weekends in May and June is mandatory and a condition of employment
Attendance at all mandatory paid, bi-weekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours
What skills and experience will you bring to the team?
Completion, or working toward the completion, of a post-secondary degree/diploma program in Education, Recreation & Leisure or a related field
Minimum two (2) years' experience working in a camp environment with demonstrated experience in supervision and program planning
Experience working with children with exceptionalities
Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C required
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
HIGH FIVE Quest 2 certification required
Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent required
Access to transportation to travel between work locations in a timely manner is required, as successful candidate(s) will be required to travel between different camp sites

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to attend Behaviour Management Systems training as part of the camp training. All other certifications are required as part of the application.
