Key Responsibilities
As a Formwork Detailer, your precision ensures the success and efficiency of our projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design Review and Adaptation: Critically review and adapt architectural and structural engineering drawings to develop detailed, comprehensive formwork and shoring plans. You will proactively identify and resolve potential conflicts or discrepancies before construction begins.
- Formwork Detailing & Drawings: Produce clear, accurate, and detailed shop drawings, layout plans, and erection drawings necessary for the successful, safe, and efficient construction of concrete formwork.
- Precise Material Takeoffs: Perform precise material takeoffs (quantities and measurements) for all formwork, lumber, hardware, and shoring components to facilitate accurate procurement, budgeting, and waste reduction.
- Site & Office Collaboration: Regularly commute between our Richmond office and local job sites to clarify details, answer field crew questions, and ensure the constructability of your designs. Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Manager.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and/or other detailing software to create and modify drawings.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Relevant Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in concrete formwork & rebar detailing and drafting.
- Driving Requirement: Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and reliable transportation for frequent travel to local job sites across the Lower Mainland.
- Drawing Expertise: Proven ability to read, interpret, and accurately adjust complex architectural and structural drawings for high-rise residential and commercial projects.
- Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in CAD software
- Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, safety standards, and various formwork systems (e.g., table forms, wall forms, columns, flying forms).
- Takeoff Proficiency: Demonstrated experience and accuracy in performing detailed material takeoffs for formwork systems.
- Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills to rapidly solve detailing problems and clearly communicate solutions to the project team both in the office and on site.
- Education: A technical diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field is highly valued.
