Requirments:

  • Completion of a Certified Exercise Physiologist designation through CSEP or ACSM is encouraged as part of the role, and Harrison will provide support for professional development to achieve this goal.
  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent, with at minimum a CPT designation from CSEP or ACSM.
  • Experience with graded exercise tolerance testing (stress test with an ECG), VO₂max testing, and/or Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET).
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in primary health care, including patient assessment in acute, community, or outpatient settings, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Genuine passion for physical activity and movement, viewing exercise as a form of medicine.
  • Independent, proactive, and self-motivated, taking initiative to continuously develop skills and pursue professional growth opportunities.

Job Responsibilities::

  • Design and deliver personalized exercise programs in accordance with CSEP and ACSM clinical guidelines.
  • Conduct standardized assessments and tests, including:
  • Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET)
  • VO₂max testing using a metabolic cart
  • Graded exercise tolerance testing
  • Body composition analysis
  • Functional movement screens (FMS)
  • Balance testing (e.g., modified CTSIB protocol)
  • Strength assessments (e.g., grip strength, dead hang, plank test)
  • Senior fitness testing
  • Biomechanical and gait assessments, including ergonomic recommendations for assistive devices
  • Engage clients in education and discussions on topics such as fall and injury prevention, sleep hygiene, and stress management.
  • Accurately document client interactions and progress in a timely manner.
  • Compile comprehensive health status reports incorporating assessment and test results.
  • Collaborate proactively with interdisciplinary team members to support individualized health and wellness plans.
