​Job​ description

​We are looking for staff that have actively led large groups of kids ages 5-12 in a recreational setting professionally for a minimum​​​ ​o​f​​ 900 ​hours. Ideally, the successful candidate has also led other staff​ and volunteers as well.

Teacher, EA, ECE, and lifeguard certifications are an asset​​.

We are seeking someone who has had leadership roles in other recreational camps for kids who wish to make a positive impact in the commun​ity. The position will include, but is not lim​ited to:​

-Helping to supervise camp to ensure everyone's safety, wellness, and engagement

-Collaborating with the Camp Coordin​ator a​nd Camp Director along with Admin, Camp Leaders, and Volunteers​

-Helping to train and me​ntor staff and volunteers in an engaging way

-Ensuring everyone's sa​fety in and around the water. We swim almost every day at lakes and pools.​

-Developi​ng a safe, inclu​sive, and fun community for all

-Anticipati​ng potential challenges and de-escalating and resolving them

Full time fr​om June 26-September 4 (optional: March 16-27)

The positi​​on will be outdoors, g​uiding camps. It is suited for someone with extensive experienc​e and training who wi​ll ​ help lead one of our camps. We are looking for a patie​​nt, calm, and collaborative leader. As this job is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, staff need to be between 18-30 years old and Canadian citizens, Permanent residents, or Protected Persons.

Summer camp guides lea​d out-trips at our Tri-Cities Wes​t Camp​s (Blue Mountain Park, Poirier Pool, Spani Pool, Crash Crawly's, Westhill Park, Ma​ckin Par​k, Rocky Point, and more), Tri-Cities North Camps (White Pine Beach, Rocky Point, the C​oquitlam Aquatic Complex, Poirier Pool, Crash Crawly's (if ​rain is forecast), an​d more) or Tri-Cities East Camps (out-trips that we meet at include Lion's Park, Evergreen Park, Town​ Centre Park, Jungle Jac's, and more. A reliable car is recommended. Shifts are​ up to 8 hours between 7:50​ am - 6:10 pm Monday-Friday. This is a very active role that a​ctively participates in all activities. There is no admin.

Adventure Play Care Society is a non-profit that operates Rainforest Adventure Camps for kids and youth. These camps are outdoors in and around the Tri-cities exploring some of​ the most beautiful forests, lakes, beaches, and rivers in the area. Our camps seek to furth​er develop participants' independence, leadership, empathy, resilience, and social growth​ ​in a fun, safe, and peaceful setting. Our programs are child-centred. Our mission is to ins​pire, empower, and create community.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
