The Dynamics Great Plains Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying custom applications and integrations that enhance and extend the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics GP. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and scalable solutions that meet organizational needs. The ideal candidate will bring a deep technical understanding of Dynamics GP, Power Platform tools, and related Microsoft technologies, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesSolution Design & Development: Design, develop, and deploy custom applications, APIs, and integrations using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with business analysts, project managers, and other team members to gather requirements, ensure proper implementation, and meet project milestones.
Quality Assurance & Testing: Ensure the quality and performance of all applications through comprehensive testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
Coding and Testing: Write, test, and deploy code to ensure applications meet quality and performance standards.
Best Practices & Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation while following best practices for version control, release management, and deployment.
Data Management: Oversee data migration, integration, and data quality assurance processes.
Project Management: Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure timely completion of development initiatives.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
Proven experience in developing and customizing Microsoft Dynamics GP modules.
Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and data modeling.
Experience integrating Microsoft Dynamics GP with third-party applications via APIs, web services, and connectors.
Hands-on experience with model-driven apps, canvas apps, and custom connectors in Power Apps.
Dexterity: Basic skill to build custom forms and business logic that are upgrade-aware.
Visual Studio Tools & C#: Intermediate proficiency using Visual Studio Tools for GP and C# to create .NET add-ins, manage GP dictionaries, and handle events.
eConnect SDK: Advanced experience programming GP data creation and updates from .NET.
GP Web Services: Advanced ability to create REST or SOAP wrappers for external systems.
SQL Server & BI Tools: Advanced skills in SQL Server, T-SQL, SSRS, and Power BI, including writing stored procedures, creating views, and performance tuning.
Power Platform: Basic knowledge of Power Automate, Dataverse, and custom connectors to orchestrate workflows around GP.
DevOps & Version Control: Basic experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines for building and deploying GP add-ins and integrations.
Debugging: Basic ability to use Visual Studio debugging and SQL Profiler to trace GP add-ins and data flows.
GP Power Tools: Basic familiarity for no-code/low-code tweaks inside GP.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable solutions.
It is preferred that the Resource has the following qualifications or experience:
Microsoft certifications in Dynamics GP, Power Platform, or related technologies are considered assets.
Experience with cloud migration or hybrid GP environments (on-premise and Azure) is an asset.
