About Us

Hourglass Café & Bistro is a friendly, community-focused space built on professionalism, teamwork, and care for detail. Our team of eight — including owners, part-time, and after-school staff — work together to create a calm, welcoming environment for our guests while keeping service efficient and consistent.

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Barista to join our front-of-house team. You'll craft great coffee, serve pastries and food items, and help maintain the smooth running of the café throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a variety of drinks, from espresso-based coffees to specialty teas.
  • Serve customers efficiently and warmly, ensuring every guest feels welcome.
  • Keep the café clean, tidy, and inviting throughout the day.
  • Support the kitchen with food service when needed.
  • Wash dishes and maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Assist with closing duties at the end of the shift.

About You

You'll be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You don't flap when things get busy, and you take initiative to get things done.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous café or barista experience.
  • Understands customer service excellence.
  • Can handle food safely and efficiently (food handling experience is an asset).
  • Stays calm under pressure and keeps their workspace organized.
  • Is friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented.
