About Us
La Vecchia Ristorante has been proudly serving authentic Italian cuisine since 1996. With locations across the GTA, including our newest Thornhill restaurant, we deliver a casual fine dining experience rooted in tradition, hospitality, and excellence. We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and support in delivering the quality and consistency our guests have come to expect.
The Role
As a Senior Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role in daily kitchen operations, assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs in supervising staff, ensuring food quality, and maintaining high culinary and sanitation standards. This position is ideal for a cook with strong experience who is ready to take the next step in their culinary career.
Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs in all aspects of kitchen management.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff during service.
- Ensure consistency and excellence in all menu items.
- Assist with prep, line cooking, and plating during service.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and uphold food safety standards.
- Contribute to training and development of junior staff.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering as needed.
- Uphold La Vecchia's commitment to authentic Italian cuisine and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in a professional kitchen as a Sous Chef, preferably in a fine dining or high-volume environment.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of Italian cuisine.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Food Handler's Certification required; additional culinary education/certifications an asset.
