Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To enable the Gates Canada, Brantford Operations meet its business plan objectives through the effective utilization and management of the Account receivable functions within company policy, GAAP, SOX and any related legislation.  This will be achieved through open communication, providing analysis and proactively searching for process improvements that will benefit the Company as a whole.

Scope of Role

  • Reports to the Finance Controller, Gates Canada Inc., Brantford. 
  • Effectively manages 1 salaried position - AR Analyst
  • Proactively manages Accounts Receivable collections and credit activities. 
  • Maintains & communicates all A/R reports.   Completing Month End AR Analysis.
  • Follow up with customers on credits, payment differences, charge backs and unapplied cash.
  • Handle customer inquiries in an efficient manner and follow up on any problems on accounts.
  • Monthly forecasting of Accounts Receivable Balance and DSO.   
  • Responsible for SOX Controls and Compliances (Risk Control Matrix)
  • Manage all audit requirements (external and internal)


Education and Experience

  • College or University Degree in an Accounting / Finance Program
  • 5 Years of hands on Accounts Receivable experience
  • 3 Years of direct supervision
  • Required Skills
  • Exceptional communications skills (verbal & written) to effectively interact with a variety of personnel. Must have an ability to see where process improvements can be made and to follow through and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP and SOX regulations.
  • Above average computer skill including MS Office with advanced Excel skill.
  • Above average attention to detail and analytical skills required.
Physical Demands

While performing the required duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit; use hands to reach, handle, manipulate and feel objects, tools and controls. The employee will need to listen and talk to other employees. Specific vision capabilities required as the employee is to work in front of a computer on a day to day basis.

Working Environment

The noise level is moderate, lighting is mild and the space is comfortable. Dust levels are nonexistent. The temperature is always consistent in keeping the employees comfortable.
