The Research Assistant I plays a vital role in supporting clinical research studies under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Their responsibilities include recruiting and screening participants, scheduling study visits, and conducting interviews and assessments. They also assist with data entry, and administrative tasks. The role requires close collaboration with patients, research staff, and external stakeholders. Throughout, they ensure strict adherence to study protocols and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Assisting with entering valid and complete data related to each study visit; Answering queries and supporting data locks.
• Maintaining regulatory documents, ensuring accuracy of delegation logs/training logs and correspondence is printed in the investigator site files.
• Supporting the coordinator with maintaining patient visit files accurately and appropriately.
• Supporting the coordinator with creating new study logs when a new trial is being opened.
• Adherence to research protocols and ensuring studies are conducted accordingly.
• Assisting with study participant screening, enrollment, and consent.

Temporary Full-Time

Rate of Pay:$26.01-$32.51

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Duration:1 year (Possibility for renewal)

Approximately 2,900 Nursing, Health and other students ranging from secondary school to university graduate level programs receive training at LHSC every year. • Completion of Clinical Trials Management Program preferred
• 1-2 years of research experience in a hospital setting preferred
• Research training/ experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) knowledge preferred
• Demonstrated excellent organizational skills
• Proficient in computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Proficiency in computerized data entry and filing/ upkeep of study files
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated high level of initiative
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
