The Research Coordinator's primary responsibilities involve close interaction with seven cardiac surgeons at University Hospital implementing all aspects of research/clinical trials for the division.
- Responsibilities may include coordinating the day-to-day activities of a research project to ensure the successful completion of the protocol from study set-up to closeout
- Ensuring compliance with study goals and objectives, standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Performs routine tasks, tests, procedures and/or assessments in accordance with the study protocol, and regulated health professional practices. Screening and consenting eligible patients per
- protocol. Following patients post intervention and collecting AEs/SAEs and reporting and entering in sponsors EDC. Arranging and attending site initiation visits, routine monitoring visits and study close out visits with sponsors and study monitors.
- Data collection and entry.
- Communications with sponsors, monitors and regulatory agencies as well as research ethics boards.
Hours of Work:37.5 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $33.64-$42.05
Duration:One year, possibility for renewal
Qualifications- Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or diploma in a health regulated profession; RN, RRT, Allied Health Professional
- Minimum 5-years recent related experience in a similar role; preferably in a research environment
- Successful completion of a Clinical Research Professional Certification (SOCRA, ACRP)
- Experience with multi-centre randomized drug/device trials working with industry sponsors and government regulatory agencies
- Experience with ethics submissions and working with Western REB, CRIC & LORA
- Experience with creating budgets for clinical trials
- Certification of GCP, TCPS2, HC Division 5 Training, TDA/IATA, Lawson CORE SOPs
- Certifications in NIHSS, mRS, MoCA
- Familiar with Health Canada and Food & Drug regulations and knowledge of ICH guidelines
- Ability to interact with cardiac surgery patients and perform all study related procedures for various study protocols with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to manage numerous clinical trials simultaneously
- Highly organized and able to prioritize completing tasks
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, database experience, medline searching, biostatistical programs, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Powerchart, eCRF data entry
- Team oriented, self-aware and flexible to changing work priorities
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with a high level of initiative and motivation
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
- This position has the possibility to develop into a full-time position based on performance.
