Office Clerk/Assistant

The Thorold Centre 50+ is a non-profit social activities centre catering to people over the age of 50. We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Office Clerk/Assistant to support our daily operations and provide excellent service to our members. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong computer skills, and is comfortable managing a variety of administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist members, visitors, and volunteers in a welcoming and professional manner
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and provide program information
- Prepare and send mass email communications to Centre members
- Maintain organized filing systems (digital and paper)
- Perform general office duties such as data entry, photocopying, and scheduling
- Assist with basic accounting tasks, including handling membership payments, reconciling receipts, and maintaining simple financial records
- Support staff and volunteers with administrative needs as required
- Assist with set up of Audio Visual (AV) sound system
Qualifications
- Excellent people skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude
- Strong computer skills, including email platforms, database and Microsoft Office
- Basic bookkeeping knowledge
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
- Comfortable learning new software and communication tools
- Previous office or customer service experience is required
- Police check required upon employment
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (25 hours per week)
Reports to the President of the Thorold Centre 50+
