Job Description
Our client, a reputable leader in the transportation and operations industry, is seeking an Accountant to join their team. This is a contract position with the potential for permanent placement working alongside a dedicated team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

Key Responsibilities for the Job: 
  • Prepare journal entries, including accruals and adjustments 
  • General ledger maintenance 
  • Lead month-end close
  • Financial statements preparation
  • Reconciliations and balance sheets
  • Manage payroll and related reporting 

Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, or other relevant training/experience 
  • 3 - 5+ years of progressive experience in general accounting, including payroll processes
  • Comfortable with collaborative, hands-on work in a casual office environment
  • Enjoys working with a team-oriented, personable culture
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a commitment to accuracy
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership of tasks
