We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Total Rewards Clerk to coordinate and execute payroll, benefits, and pension administration for K'en T'em Limited Partnership, Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly, and the Merritt Herald. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy and compliance in all compensation and benefits-related processes.

Primary Duties

  • Administer payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing of pay,
  • Be the first point of contact for employees regarding compensation and total rewards,
  • Act as plan administrator for employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries,
  • Oversee pension plan administration, ensuring compliance with regulations and effective communication with employees,
  • Maintain accurate records related to payroll, benefits, and pension plans in collaboration with the Finance and People and Talent (HR) Departments,
  • Assist in the development of reports, analytics, and informational material related to total rewards and compensation, and
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Finance Manager, and/or People and Talent Development Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits principles, as well as relevant legislation,
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills,
  • Ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships,
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion,
  • Willingness to learn nłeʔkepmx cultural values and protocols while recognizing and respecting cultural diversity, and
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and manage time, with solid computer skills and proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office productivity software.

Experience and Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration,
  • Post-secondary education in finance, human resources or related field is an asset,
  • Proven understanding of payroll regulations, benefits administration, and pension processes, and
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office Suite, with a willingness to learn new systems as needed.

Work Environment

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm, with a 1-hour lunch, with regular flexibility required for events and meetings in evenings and weekends. On average, 35 hours per week,
  • Overtime: All daily overtime over 8 hours will be banked at 1.5x, all hours over 12 will be banked at 2x,
  • Reporting Office Location: Office work will be conducted from the CNA Office at 2025 Granite Ave. Merritt BC,
  • Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation (10 working days), accrued at 0.84 per month,
  • Winter Break: 2 weeks paid (max 10 working days),
  • Benefits: 50% benefit premiums paid by employer,
  • Pension: Pension matching (percentage increasing with years of service), and
