Company Overview

Venture Mechanical is a regionally owned HVAC and mechanical service company. We're seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team and to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and financial operations.

Summary

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and supporting the management team with financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile all financial accounts in QuickBooks desktop & Enterprise
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
  • Job costing and invoicing for projects and service jobs
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Prepare and process government remittances (GST/PST, source deductions, etc.)
  • Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures
  • Generate financial reports and provide summaries for management review
  • Maintain organized digital and paper filing systems for financial records
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and management regarding financial matters
  • Support the external accountant during audits or year-end reviews

Qualifications

  • Certification in a recognized Canadian Bookkeeping Program.
  • Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience (required)
  • Proficient in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
  • Familiar with CRA regulations and policies regarding taxation and submitting payments
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial record-keeping
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently
