Dougan Irwin & Associates is a Chartered Professional Accountant firm in Nanaimo with approximately 16 staff. We have clients in a wide variety of industry sectors which we have been serving since 1979. We deal with everyone from high net worth entrepreneurs to large privately held corporations.

We offer competitive salaries, extended health benefits plan and a superior work/life balance. Our office has a standard work week of 35 hours, which increases to 37.5 hours February through June and reduces to 28 hours in August.

We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper who is looking for a diverse work environment to be a key part of our team. Previous public practice experience would be an asset.

Key duties and responsibilities:

· Track deadlines for various tax filings to ensure all deadlines are met

· Client bookkeeping for monthly, quarterly and annual cycles

· Payrolls for various clients

· Filings for source deductions, WorkSafe, EHT, GST, PST, etc.

· Supporting other bookkeeping related projects as required

The candidate must:

· Have at least 1-2 years experience in bookkeeping. Sage and QuickBooks experience preferred.

· Have payroll knowledge and experience

· Have strong computer skills

· Be able to work to deadlines

· Have good time management and organizational skills

· Work independently or collaboratively with other members of the bookkeeping staff

· Ability to adapt to changing priorities as well as multitasking between different requests

Privacy, confidentiality, and discretion are paramount.

Experience with Caseware, Adobe and Windows Explorer file management is preferred as the firm operates in a paperless environment.

Our social committee has planned a variety of events, which have included staff barbeques, The Break-Out Room, Fast Time Grand Prix, Wild Play, wine tours and a trip to Tsawwassen Mills.
